My Top 25 Favorite Shots of 2010

Happy New Year!!!

This year was a year of surprises and new learnings. And one surprise and at the same time learning I had was using a DSLR camera.

To be honest, I did not expect such thing would become a hobby of mine. I'm not totally into it in the first place. If you read my first post entitled A Take on Photography, then you will get the whole thought. haha!!

Henceforth, I came up with the idea of posting my fave shots this year. First, I will choose the 25 best (for me) non-people pictures out of hundreds I took. I will also include some captions onto which how and why I chose it.

Please do comment too and tell me some of your views and what you think about my list.

Enjoy!!!

25
Taken on Dec.17, 2010. After attending Simbang Gabi at Talisay Church,
went to the nearest shore and took some shots. Few minutes later,
a banca passed by and I hurriedly took a simple yet a meaningful shot

24
Took this picture out boredom on Nov. 29, 2010. Used slowest shutter speed and lowest aperture.
It's amazing how stars become visible. Sugoi!

23
Took these caps in a garbage bag. Got nothing to do that afternoon
It came out nice, unexpectedly. haha

22
One of the funniest shot I took. I was laughing how poise the cat was
while staring at me. The cat was not camera shy, and there was no holding back. haha
I even submitted this picture on Nat Geo's Great Migration contest.

21
The picture tells it all. Shot during my trip in Zamboanga's Barter store.
I bought the oat krunch.

20
A Majestic sunset taken on our Penthouse. By the picture alone, I can't think
of any caption suitable for this shot. haha

19
Title: Single Ladies
LOL!
Taken on Halloween. It was cool taking pictures on fountains

18
This was unintentional. hahahaha! Went outside to the metropolitan
to try taking pictures at night. I forgot it was on set to 30 sec shutter. So, i just whirled it
around and this was how it ended up. haha

17
One of the first shots I took when I first held my DSLR camera.
An anahaw tree at the back of our house.

16
One of the coolest shot I took. A first attempt of panorama. Form afar, it looks like a
hurricane-like cloud.

15
Went out with a friend to try to capture tail lights of cars.
We stationed on a skywalk in Robinson's Mall Fuente Osmena.
My first time to take pictures in the city.

14
Another shot during my early stages of photography.
Its a railing on left side of our house's main entrance.

13
Took a shot of this Pistachio Ice Cream Cake at Dessert Factory, Ayala Terraces
just yesterday, Dec.30.

12
A cool view of Raddison Blu Hotel, near SM.
It's my first time to be there, and all facilities and ambiance
are truly remarkable.

11
Took this on a sudden power outage here in Cebu.
I used the 50mm 1.8 lens to capture the candle light.

10
A cool water fountain in the entrance of Raddison Blu Hotel. Looks
like hooded priests or cult. hahaha

9
A favorite of mine. I also submitted this on Nat Geo's contest.

8
Yogurt @ Red Mango. The picture is simple but it kinda
struck me. I still can't figure out what it is. haha

7
Took this after a rainy afternoon. The picture itself gives me a fresh
and strong feel. And that's why I included it on my list.

6
This is the first lightning shot I have. I was in awe when I captured it
after long minutes of waiting. I submitted this shot on Nikon's contest. LOL

Now, for my TOP 5!!!

5
I love how the fountain and main entrance go together on this picture on a black
night sky. I'm no professional, but I think this is by far the most classy architecture shot I took.

4
Disco Lights at a Karaoke Bar. I used slow shutter speed and it looks like
an active molecular phenomenon. hahaha! I totally love this picture, and I used it as
my wallpaper on my desktop.

3
I feel compelled on this picture. And its the first time
I shot this on a very personal level, ignoring the territorial barrier of this cat.
I was really close while taking this picture while the cat was totally on sleeping-mode.

2
I am totally into greens. And this plant is just an ordinary one where you can see
anywhere on sidewalks or streets on a village. I just zoomed
and the leaves look spectacular. When I see this picture, I smile.
I just can't believe that I have a shot like this.

And My Number 1 Favorite Shot is . . .

Some say that it's just Photoshopped or edited. To be honest, I still don't know
how to use Photoshoppe or editing stuffs. Just the basic tweaks like brightness,
contrast, and the likes. This shot is for real! One thing I said to myself after I
had this shot, "I will never take another lightning shot again. This is picture is enough."
Simply majestic and unbelievable. Shot this just outside my window. and VOILA!!!

Next, I will be posting my TOP 10 People Shots of 2010. So, watch out for it . . .
